Emily, however, is no ordinary seventeen year old girl, and the scars on her psyche run far deeper than most. Riven is the first book of the compelling and deeply immersive My Myth trilogy, and introduces us to Emily, a young woman who is struggling to cope with the challenges that life has dealt her. Emily’s father has been incarcerated and is due for release, her mother is strung out on meds and barely present in her life, and her younger brothers and sisters rely on Emily for help and guidance. However, Emily’s world is starting to crumble – voices are whispering in her head, her arms are bleeding and marked by strange symbols which appeared from nowhere, and the fairytale characters and shadowy nightmares of her childhood have reappeared in her waking life… and this time, they’re calling out for help.
